Following the success of their latest album Broadway 2018 and a run of UK tour dates, the House Band are back with a celebratory start to 2019 with their new EP: Mardi Gras Vol. 1. The record features new music from the House Band, paying homage to the event with which they have long been associated and the rich mix of musical styles that you'll find on the streets on New Orleans during this Fat Tuesday party.

The EP kicks off with party track King Louis, penned by New York resident and newest House Band member Alec Harper. This lead track is a bold statement of what’s to come, bringing those carnival vibes from the outset.

Ragtime tune St Cyr was written by band leader Giacomo Smith and named after Jelly Roll Morton's banjo player, Johnny St Cyr. The track draws on Morton's influences and celebrates the city where he was born.

Blue Peter switches the pace up again, this time to feature one of the House Band's unique ever-changing lineups. 2018’s breakout track Beijinhos featured the same front line, with Giacomo and Adrian Cox both on clarinet. Adrian’s in demand as a featured soloist, having played as part of the Wynton Marsalis Big Band, and The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra in the same year.

These three tracks take the listener from rag to swing and blues to soul, all the while showcasing the Kansas Smitty's House Band's inimitable sound. Mardi Gras Vol. 2 will be released on April 19th, to mark the end of lent and the start of the Easter partying.
