Basement Tapes with Tom Barford, Conor Chaplin & Jeff Williams

Tom Barford is a London-based saxophonist/composer described by Evan Parker as "A new star in the Jazz firmament" after winning the Kenny Wheeler Prize back in 2017 and releasing his acclaimed debut album in 2018. Tom has also been busy touring and recording as a sideman in such groups as the Tom Syson Band, Alberto Palau’s Flight Mode and has appeared with the Guy Barker Big Band (featuring Billy Cobham) and Gareth Lockrane’s Big Band. Tom also enjoys co-leading the band ‘AuB’ with Alex Hitchcock with an album due to be released next year on Edition Records.

For this one off gig at Kansas Smitty’s, Tom will be joined by Jazz hero’s Jeff Williams (Joe Henderson, Lee Konitz, Stan Getz, Joe Lovano) and Conor Chaplin (Kit Downes, Marius Neset, Thomas Strønen, Bobo Stenson, George Garzone) for a trio set of standards and post-bop tunes written and made famous by some of Tom's favourite tenor players.
